Kiln Firing
Studio TM offers kiln firings for bisque, low-fire glaze, and mid range glaze. Use the contact form below to schedule drop off times and the pricing guide to estimate firing cost. Pricing will be confirmed via studio assistant once your piece is dropped off at the studio and payment is due at drop-off. All communication about firings are addressed through email, please make sure to add our contact and check your spam inbox.
***Tiny/Delicate Piece Fee - Beginning with a $10 additional charge for the time and attention it takes to load tiny pieces and/or extremely delicate work. Prices subject to change based on amount and size.
If you would like to inquire about firing to a temperature you do not see listed, please email us to see if we can accommodate you. If you have an unusual firing need, it may affect the price, be sure to include photos and measurements in your email so we can quote your estimate correctly. We do not currently fire over cone 6. Please note, if your work is directly responsible for damage to any of our equipment then you will be liable for cost of replacement.
Damage to Kiln/Kiln Shelves
If your pieces cause glaze dripping on the kiln shelves, you will be charged $5 per drip. If the piece is completely stuck to the shelf, you will be responsible for reimbursing the studio for the cost of the shelf at a market rate of $98. An email with images and descriptions of damages will be sent as proof and an invoice for remitting payment. Payment for damages MUST be remitted before you can pick up the remaining pieces or fire with us again. Please ask our studio assistants for help if you are unsure of any of the glaze processes - we are here and are happy to assist! We want your beautiful works to come out of the kiln whole and lovely, and we do not want to have to charge you for damages.
Per Drip on Shelf: $5
Post or Stilt Damage: dependent on size, will be reflected on invoice.
Complete Shelf Damage/Replacement: $98
As a general rule, the small kiln can easily hold over 50 pieces that are standard tableware size. The big kiln is ideal for sculpture and extra large amounts of work.
Kiln Firing Inquiry Form
Please include your requested dates, how much space you think your work will require, and what kind of firing you are interested in. The studio will respond to coordinate drop-off and pick-ups times. Once you have brought your work in to the studio, one of our staff will help you measure it, and you’ll remit payment at the register prior to departing. Please plan to request your firing at least 1-2 weeks in advance, as our availability shifts throughout the month. You can estimate at minimum 3-5 days before work returns. Please note, during periods with high volume, work may take longer to fire and your requested firing date may not be available depending on our class and member firings.
