Welcome to our first 6 week session of the new year! Our exciting Winter II schedule is beginning on January 13th! In this session, we are pleased to offer both Introduction to Wheel 1 and Wheel 2, along with Hand Building, featuring our amazing instructors who will be there to guide you on your creative journey in clay. This session’s carefully curated intermediate wheel classes will on Tuesdays evenings with Jack and with Claire on Saturdays! For our young artists, including kids and teens, we will host engaging six-week mixed level classes that will showcase both wheel and hand-building techniques, allowing returning students to continue expanding on their previous knowledge and skills. First-time beginners are always warmly welcomed and encouraged to join us!

Classes

Intro to Wheel 1 - 6 weeks

Have you always wanted to learn to throw on the potter’s wheel? This class requires no previous throwing experience. It is taught in a small setting with plenty of one on one instruction time. Your class fee includes all instruction, use of equipment, clay, tools, glaze, and all firings costs.

INTRO TO WHEEL II THROWING: 6 SESSIONS

Taken a class or two but not quite ready for intermediate? If you’ve learned how to center this six week class is designed to help you navigate a myriad of throwing skills and creative processes necessary to continue your wheel throwing adventures! We will focus on gaining height, balance, wall and foot thickness, tool proficiency and begin to explore the complexities of form and function.

Intermediate WHEEL THROWING (Special topics): 6 SESSIONS

In this upcoming class, you will have the opportunity to build on and enhance the foundational skills acquired in both the Wheel 1 and Wheel 2 courses. It is not uncommon for some students to repeat the Wheel 2 course about 2 to 3 times before confidently progressing to this advanced section, depending on their individual skill level and comfort with the techniques. Throughout this course, you will learn to create new and different forms while further refining your throwing techniques, enabling you to expand your pottery-making abilities.

All intermediate sections are 2.5 hrs long!

Hand Building - 6 weeks

This engaging class will explore a variety of introductory techniques specifically designed for handbuilding functional objects and requires absolutely no previous clay experience whatsoever. During the course, you will have the opportunity to learn essential methods such as coiling, pinching, and slab building in a small, supportive class setting that encourages individual creativity. Your class fee includes all necessary instruction, access to equipment, clay, specialized tools, glaze, and coverage for all firings costs, ensuring a comprehensive and fulfilling experience.

  • 10 - 12 pm — January 16th, 23rd, 30th, February 6th, 13th, 20th

Sunday Afternoons with Kel

  • 2 - 4 pm — January 19th, 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

Kids + Teens: 6 weeks

While all other courses are 18+, these respective classes are the perfect opportunity for teens (11-18 yr olds) and kids (5-10 year olds) to start their love of pottery! Students will have the opportunity to work on both the wheel and learn to hand build during these 1 hour and 15 minute classes. Students may repeat courses as many times as they like to continue developing their skills as classes are customized towards students’ interests.
